Challenges = Growth

To start the year off my friend and I completed a 72- hour fast. Shout out to Dana White. Not everyone believes in fasting but it is personal for us. I’m a huge foodie and my life has revolved around food. Anytime I leave the house is to eat and hangout. So I decided to start fasting to focus on other things than food. Completing the 72- hour fast meant that I would focus on anything but food. I worked my regular shift and drank a gallon of water a day. I read my book, learned effective copywriting strategies, worked out, and meditated each morning. When I had the time to focus on the things that would help me grow, I took advantage and learned more about myself than I have in any other situation. It was truly a personal growth experience.

Now you don’t have to complete a 3 day fast in order to grow, but you do need to challenge yourself in some shape or form. You have been challenged throughout your athletic career and look at what kind of growth came out of that. You had an opposing team to play that week , which brought out the best in you. To win, you had to prepare and preform. This isn’t new to you. With the life challenges, you have to attack and jump right in. Don’t think twice because once you do, self- doubt will kick in which is exactly what we don’t want. Don’t just set a goal, create a system. Hold yourself to the standard of personally growing each day.

To challenge yourself means to put yourself in an uncomfortable or foreign position. Completing 75 hard is an immense challenge. Workout 4-6 days a week. Give up fast food, meal prep, learn how to do a backflip, read 10-20 pages a day, learn a new skill for your career, start a social media page, start a side hustle. There are so many ways you can grow as a person. You just to allow yourself to face another challenge and not be scared to succeed. You have to hold yourself accountable this time. No coaches, mom and dad aren’t at home with you. You have the skills complete any challenge you set out to succeed. Once you complete any challenge, you will see what that does for you and it will become infectious. Continue to grow and the real world will award you.
