I’m just as bad as everyone here when it comes to late night snacks. It’s easy to finish your dinner and eat brownies, ice cream, and cereal. But, this is adding fat to your body and killing your fitness goals so STOP!
Gummy Boy
When I was a kid, I was really into sweets especially, gummy bears. This lasted till I was 26 years old. So it took me 14 years to stop eating gummy bears on a weekly basis. That lets you know how hard it is to give it up. This also proves that you are not alone, the masses are eating like crap daily, weekly, and yearly. Still, you can make a choice today to STOP!
How to Beat Junk Food at Night
“How do I stop eating junk food at night?” I will spell it out for you:
- Eat dinner between 7-8pm, that consists of a high protein and low carbs
- Spread your meals out throughout the day. (Eat 5 meals every 3 hours starting at 7am)
- Eat a healthy desert that includes Greek yogurt.
(Greek yogurt is a cheat code, add honey, fruit, and dark chocolate pieces, and you are chillin). - An apple with peanut butter (Peanut butter powder is superior!)
- Drink plenty of water with electrolytes
There are plenty of alternatives to junk food that you can still eat at night. The purpose here is to eat good food that fits into your nutrition goals. Protein is your most loyal friend so don’t ever leave him. Find healthy alternatives so you can still get your sweet tooth. Discipline yourself and you will achieve your goal.
You Can Do This
My life didn’t change until I started going to bed hungry. As Americans we are programmed to be full and satisfied. Maybe that’s why 45% of us are obese. Listen to me, (look a my words) IF YOU GO TO BED HUNGRY, YOU WILL BE OKAY IN THE MORNING. You achieve this by not starving yourself. Fuel yourself throughout the day. By doing so, when you go to bed, you know you have accomplished what you needed for the day.
A Night Plan Just for You
The rule of thumb is to stop eating 3 hours before bed. For my night owls this can give you some leeway to when you can finish your dinner. For my early birds, this means you must finish your dinner between 5:30 and 7:30. Now this sounds impossible but let’s break it down.
- 6:30: Finish Dinner
- 6:30 – 7:00: Go for a walk
- 7:00 – 9:00: Watch Netflix, read a book, cuddle with your partner, call your best friend, or clean the house
- 9:00 – 9:30: Prepare for bed
- 9:30 – Sleep
